My Why
Though tons of research exists to support the impact of those indelible impressions that we receive through our life experiences. I think we don’t consider enough the experiences that shape us in those formative years.
The One God Chose
I could never position myself to move forward through my experience, now or in the future without acknowledging my why. I am who I am, and how I am because God chose Constance Gayles to be my mother. I am convinced through my own experiential knowledge that God chooses Purpose, not perfection. It is my believe that he has reserved perfection for the time we share with him in heavenly places, but for our journey here on earth, it is PURPOSE.
In spite of all adversity, I have watched my mother, lend herself in service to others. I have watched her extend compassion by the grace of God to those he empowered her to show it to. I remember being a child riding down the blistering cold streets of Detroit in the winter with momma and her stopping to pick up strangers at the bus stop! Of course, as a child, I thought she was crazy, but as I grew to be an adult, I found myself doing the same things.
Love is verb and it’s the vehicle that builds legacy. I watched my mom receive what God gave her, the beauty for ashes, and serve the community and those in need, giving them what they needed, whatever that was-food, a ride, a holy kiss-WHATEVER God told her to give.
It is because of her, the perfectly imperfect vessel Constance Gayles, that God chose to be MY teacher’s aide in this classroom of life, that I am able to be all that is Donna R. Gayles. I am because she is.
